Innovative Hardware

At the heart of Solace’s solutions is the Solace 3200 series content networking system, the industry's first platform to implement many of the traditional functions of software infrastructure in unique hardware, directly within the network. Solace's routers are layered on top of existing IP or MPLS networks to extend what has traditionally been done by middleware, resulting in many innovative improvements:

  • Predictable high throughput with low latency — Solace routers implement middleware functionality in custom hardware chipsets, removing the variability that comes with operating system software on general purpose hardware. The latency incurred to deliver content remains in the predictable small numbers of microseconds, whether the router is processing hundreds, thousands or millions of messages per second.
  • Full content routing — Solace routers inspect each message passing through each router and evaluate each subscriber’s requirements against the full content of the message with only microseconds of overhead. This means that subscribers are fully decoupled from publishers – they no longer need to be bound by subjects or topics. Any field in the message, or a combination of fields, can determine which information goes to which subscriber.
  • Hardware-based transformation — Solace routers allow applications to share information even when they do not have matching data formats. A Solace router can reformat content at wire speed so a single document can be formatted differently for each consuming application, all in hardware at rates up to 50 times faster than software.
  • Unprecedented persistent messaging — Solace routers use innovative techniques to accelerate persistent messaging applications to be 10 to 50 times faster than software systems. For the first time, applications can rely on fully failsafe infrastructure to ensure that information is delivered between endpoints, spanning failures or outages between the applications at volumes impossible without custom hardware.
