New Opportunity: Technical Writer

Solace Systems is seeking to hire a talented Technical Writer to join the Technical Publications team.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Write new material as well as update and maintain existing material (mediums include print and online)
  • Write conceptual information, reference documentation, task-based procedures, SDKs, tutorials, release notes, and more
  • Extract information and grasp complex technical concepts by interviewing SMEs and experimenting with software and hardware
  • Work closely with SMEs to ensure the product capabilities are documented in the best manner possible
  • Work as part of a team, writing in a common style, to clearly and successfully document complex products and services
  • Develop and update graphics

Qualifications and Experience

  • University degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least five years experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in a high-tech environment
  • Strong technical aptitude and interest, with ability to understand highly technical or incomplete product specifications
  • Expertise in Adobe FrameMaker and Web technologies as authoring tools
  • Expert ability to perform research and learn new technologies quickly
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with SMEs and other writers
  • Excellent writing skills, with strong attention to detail and understanding of good writing and editing practices
  • Experience writing software and hardware documentation for complex products and services
  • Proven record for on-time delivery, and comfortable with aggressive schedules and deadlines
  • Proven record for delivering first-rate work with a minimum of supervision

Software Integration Specialist

Solace is seeking an experienced software developer or skilled technical support coordinator to serve as a Software Integration Specialist as part of the Solace Systems customer support organization. As part of the team, the candidate will focus on software development, customer support in addition to software integration tasks.

Solid experience in the following areas is required:

  • Networking and network programming
  • Application integration with Java and/or C++/C
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot challenging technical issues

Additional assets include:

  • Experience with JMS, XML, XPATH and XSLT
  • Technical knowledge of and experience with messaging products such as IBM MQ, TIBCO EMS/RV
  • Telecom experience in either development, professional services or customer support

    • Qualifications: Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Customer Support Specialist

The Solace support organization is seeking a Senior Customer Support Specialist for our world-class team. We provide support and application integration services to large enterprises and carriers. The successful candidate will work along side the Quality Assurance, Sales Engineering and Research and Development teams to provide a single, professional, responsive interface to customers deploying our products.

The candidate must have the following essential skills and qualifications:

  • Network application integration or software development experience on Solaris, Linux and/or Windows
  • Strong customer focus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • 3-5 years previous support-related experience dealing with customers
  • Proven troubleshooting skills

Additional assets include:

Systems / Sales Engineer

The Solace Sales Engineering team is seeking a dynamic individual with outstanding technical and interpersonal skills to perform as a Systems/Sales Engineer based in New York, NY. The candidate must have solid experience in the following disciplines:

  • Networking - Good knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP Multicast and Reliable Multicast. Knowledge of Infiniband would be an asset.
  • Messaging Middleware - Understanding of the application middleware space. Technical knowledge of messaging products such as IBM MQ, TIBCO EMS/RV. An understanding of JMS, XML, XPATH and XSLT would all be assets.
  • Application Integration with Java and/or C++/C - The candidate must have experience with software development in either Java or C++/C, SDKs and API integration.
  • Customer Service - This role is customer facing so the successful candidate must have solid presentation and communication skills and be ready to take on the challenges of a fast moving, fast growing, and dynamic environment.

The position will require some travel within North America and globally. The majority of time will be spent in New York City working with top tier Financial Services accounts. The individual will work closely with the sales team to support customers on a technical level, run customer trials, customer integration/architecture and help in the development of new accounts. The successful candidate will report directly to the VP of Systems Engineering.

Qualifications: Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering; Masters in Science, Business or Engineering an asset.

Embedded Software Designer

Solace is seeking a talented software designer with 5+ years experience in developing C, C++ in a multi platform environment (Solaris, Linux and Windows). A software engineering or computer science degree is a must, as well as having hands on experience in library design. The ideal candidate should have strong network programming skills and experience in real-time/high-performance design paradigms and idioms. We are also looking for a dynamic individual who possesses excellent communication skills and is able to work effectively with other R&D groups as well as with our customers. Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to work in a team environment are a must.

Datapath Architect

The Architecture team is seeking a candidate with considerable experience designing, implementing and testing system-level datapaths on IP routers or multi-service switches/routers using the latest technologies (Network Processors, FPGAs) and with a strong Traffic Management background, either with in-house or commercial queuing and TM chipsets in applications such as IP/MPLS, FR, PPP or ATM. Experience with any of the following is also an asset: TCP Offload Engines (TOE), Secure Socket Layer (SSL) and various middleware products such as MQSeries, JMS or TIBCO RV. Reporting to Solace's Chief Architect, the successful candidate will in addition be very innovative, possess superior communication and organizational skills and have a keen interest in staying abreast of technology developments.

Network Protocol Software Designer

Solace is seeking a talented software designer with 5-7 years experience in routing protocol development to participate in the design of Solace's innovative and revolutionary message routing products. The successful candidate will possess strong embedded software skills, expertise in developing carrier grade routing or switching systems, and innovative problem solving skills. An in-depth understanding of traditional protocols such as BGP, OSPF, PIM, or RSVP is extremely desireable.
